Preventive maintenance is the foundation of equipment uptime and accreditation compliance. A Biomedical Service designs and executes PM programs that match your equipment inventory, accreditation requirements, and operational schedule, so your devices perform reliably and your inspection records are always current.

We perform preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer-recommended procedures, AAMI standards, and the requirements of The Joint Commission (TJC), DNV GL, and AAAHC where applicable. Every PM visit produces a written service report suitable for your compliance binder and biomed equipment management records.

Whether you need a single device serviced or a facility-wide PM program managed on your behalf, we offer flexible arrangements to fit your team and budget.

What Our PM Program Includes

Performance Verification

Functional testing and performance checks against manufacturer specifications. We verify the device operates correctly across its intended operating range before returning it to service.

Electrical Safety Inspection (ESI)

Leakage current testing, chassis ground resistance, and safety checks per AAMI ES60601-1 and IEC standards. Results recorded on calibrated test equipment with traceable standards.

Scheduled PM Intervals

PM intervals are set per manufacturer recommendation or risk-based intervals where permitted by your accreditation body. We track due dates and send scheduling reminders.

Inspection Labels

Calibrated inspection labels applied to each device after a passing PM, showing the service date and next due date. Labels are compliant with TJC and state survey requirements.

Service Reports & Asset Records

Written PM reports document all work performed, test results, corrective actions, and parts replaced. Reports are retained in your equipment history file and available on request.

Corrective Action & Recall Tracking

Devices that fail PM are quarantined or tagged out of service with documentation. We track open manufacturer advisories and recalls and incorporate them into scheduled visits where applicable.

PM Program Options

1

Single device or per-visit

No contract required. Request a PM visit for one or more specific devices. Ideal for spot inspections, newly acquired equipment, or devices approaching accreditation surveys.

2

Department PM program

A scheduled PM program covering all devices in a specific department, ICU, OR, ED, or other clinical area. We manage the schedule, track due dates, and deliver reports to your biomed or facilities team.

3

Facility-wide PM contract

A comprehensive annual PM agreement covering your full equipment inventory. Includes equipment census review, scheduling, execution, documentation, and quarterly compliance reporting.

All programs include written service reports. Contract programs include asset tracking and a compliance summary report suitable for accreditation preparation.

Preventive Maintenance FAQ

What does a preventive maintenance visit include?
A PM visit includes scheduled maintenance, electrical safety testing, functional verification, and documentation of what was checked, found, and corrected.
How often should equipment receive PM?
Intervals are set by device risk and manufacturer guidance. High-risk and life-supporting devices are serviced more frequently; general clinical equipment is often annual.
Do you provide documentation for accreditation surveys?
Yes. Every PM produces service records suitable for accreditation and audit purposes, so you can produce them quickly during a survey.
Can you help with our PM backlog?
Yes. We provide overflow support to reduce PM backlogs when your in-house team is stretched, keeping your schedule on track.
Do you offer single-device or facility-wide programs?
We offer PM programs at every level, from a single device to a department or an entire facility.

A Biomedical Service is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.
